Lingerie is a term for women's fashion undergarments. It derives from the French word 'lin' for linen. While the term in the French language applies to all undergarments for either sex, in English it is applied only to those women's undergarments designed to be visually appealing or erotic, typically incorporating materials such as nylon (nylon tricot), polyester, satin, lace and/or silk, and not applied to functional cotton undergarments.
The word 'lingerie' is very feminine and denotes excitement, sensuality and elegance. It does not point towards the dull collection of everyday underwear but captures the feminine, fashionable and adventurous essence of all women. Lingerie is the most intimate wear of any woman, and often becomes a secret expression of her innermost feelings. No wonder women of today are attracted to a glittering array of Lingerie styles, colors and textures.
The concept of lingerie being visually appealing is relatively recent. Up through the first half of the 20th century women selected underwear for three major purposes: to alter their shape (first with corsets and later with girdles or bras), for reasons of hygiene, or for modesty. Women's underwear was often very large and bulky. As the 20th century progressed underwear became smaller and more form fitting. In the 1960s 'controversial' lingerie manufacturers such as Frederick's of Hollywood begin to glamourise Lingerie and the idea of Lingerie having a sexual appeal slowly developed.
For the modern woman, lingerie should be perfect blend of comfort and style. It should be made from functional and soothing fabrics like cotton, hosiery, silk and satin. Lingerie can be categorized into many items. Thongs are alluring and one of the fastest selling pieces of Lingerie.
All lingerie is machine made but some specialty shops offer hand-sewn items. Some even design lingerie to your specifications. It is very common to have wedding, honeymoon and anniversary lingerie designed.
When buying any piece of Lingerie, one must be very careful about the sizing. Lingerie is numbered in different sizes according to the bust, cup size, waist and hip measurements. If you are buying a particular piece of lingerie for the first time, it is better to try it on for size and comfort. But if you know your sizes, you can order lingerie on the Internet.
who to invite and if i should combine bridal/bachorlette parties?
So, inside I am a party girl. Though I am sick and can't drink and don't really like to go out and stuff like that anymore. So I got this idea to have a "bed and bath" themed bachorlette party but then I though I could also combine it with my bridal shower which I don't really want but everyone thinks I need to have. So my question is would it be a good or bad idea to combine the two and make it like a pajama type party with the bed and bath themed gifts for like sexy lingerie, bath products, soaps, etc... basically things you'd use in the bathroom and bed room. Most of mine and his family are pretty crazy and open and enjoy goofy things like that. Which leads me to my second question, who do I invited to these parties? My ladies in my bridal party plus like mom, aunts, grannies? And also is it wrong to have a type of party that gives only me gifts? Since I thought a bridal shower was supposed to give me gifts that would've been givin at the wedding for the two of us? I'm very confused with this stuff! Advice please!!

is it to early to be making plans for valentines day?
Its not with my bf...its with a guy friend Im beginning to date. I was just going to ask him if he wanted to do something cute on valentines day, and tell him I was thinking something along the lines of making dinner together, taking a bubble bath, involving some lingerie, and watching the princess bride(one of our favorite movies). Im just wondering if its a little weird for me to ask when it isnt till feb 14th

Girls only please, slight relationship problem?
So I am 18 years old and i have been with my girlfriend for a year and it is a serious relationship. My growing concern is her inability to know when things make me uncomfortable. One example is that she has one close friend who is openly bi and I my girlfriend is...curious. Last time they had a sleepover, the other girl was asking her if she could play with her breasts ect. When I confronted her friend, she apologized for it, but now grabs my girlfriend butt every chance she gets. My girldfriend also changes into lingerie with bi girls in changing rooms which to me is wrong. Then one of the less racy pictures she posted on facebook which I made her delete. For the first time ever, she sent me a picture on the internet, which happened included another girl (and mutual friend). So I guess my question is, is it out of line for me to ask her to stop with this behavior. It seems like she's acting the opposite as she usually does. But I'm worried she's going to do something stupid that will ruin us. Any advice would be much appreciated, thanks.
