Pitch Like The Pros And Make Your Buddies Jealous
Have you ever wondered how the pros get the golf ball to come up sharply out of the rough and land softly on the green?
Have you ever wondered why your ball doesn't do the same thing?
Here's the trick. Most golfers think that you have to kind of scoop the ball up out of the grass when in the rough around the green. This is not how the golf clubs work. There are clubs with more loft on them for a reason.
You need to get the leading edge of the club underneath the ball in order to get the club's loft to do the work it was meant for. Instead what happens for most of you is that you are hitting too far behind the ball. This will cause the club to either hit in the middle of the ball, sending flying across the green, or it will top the ball and the ball only goes a couple of feet.
The correction for this is to move your weight forward in your stance. This actually adds som loft to the club. Keep the handle of the club pointing at your belt buckle. On your down stoke, the blade of the club will kind of chop at the ground and get the leading edge of the club under the ball.
This is the way to get the club's loft to work for you and get the ball up out of the grass. The next thing you need to learn is what is the right tempo. You should use the same tempo every time you use this technique. You can change the club for different distances. Lob wedge for short distances, sand wedge for medium and pitching wedge for longer shots. You can further change
distances by changing the amount of backswing.
Using this technique is simple, mastering it is a little bit more difficult. Start by using your sand wedge and get the short distance down pat. Then use a little bit more backswing for longer distances and so forth. Regardless, you will start seeing a difference in your shots around the green immediately and so will your friends. They will want you to show them how to do the same thing.
